Yogi Adityanath Trashes Reports That Private Diagnostic Labs Were Not Conducting RTPCR Tests

PM Modi calls up the UP chief Minister, is briefed about the on-ground COVID situation in the state.

Lucknow, April 20 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh government has trashed reports that private diagnostic labs in the state are not doing COVID tests as malicious propaganda by some selfish elements.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned for serious penal action against all those involved in spreading this rumour. He also said that so 17 lakh COVID tests have been done in private labs of which 8.84 lakh were RTPCR tests that are considered conclusive for the dreaded virus.

Officials also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Adityanath of phone and was briefed about the on-ground situation of COVID in the state. He was also apprised of the efforts rolled out by the state government in this regard. Along with the availability of ICU beds, a comprehensive testing strategy is being worked out by continuously supplying, tracking and testing of oxygen, the saffron-robed chief minister told the PM.

The Prime Minister received information from the Chief Minister about the RTPCR tests being conducted by private laboratories in the state. In this regard, the Chief Minister informed that 104 private laboratories and 125 public sector laboratories are engaged in Covid test work in the state.

The state government has also decided that if a sufficient number of samples are not available with private laboratories for RTPCR examination, the district administration should send the samples compiled by government agencies to private laboratories for RTCPR examination. For this, private labs will be paid at the rate of Rs 500 per sample. In this regard, all concerned have been directed.
