Yogi Adityanath Orders Setting Up Of Quarantine Centres For Migrant Labourers In Every District

Lucknow, April 14 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday ordered setting up of quarantine centres for migrant labourers in every district of the state.

The UP CM has also directed top officials to make all the necessary arrangements to receive migrant workers from other states, including among others from Maharashtra and Delhi, amid rising number of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases across the country.

The quarantine centres will have all the facilities for labourers returning to their home state and testing positive for Covid, including food and beverages along with medical aid.

Tlhe Governmentast year during the lockdown had provided ration kits for the migrant workers, offered them financial assistance and transferred Rs 1,000 to each worker’s bank account. A total of Rs 1,51,82,67,000 was transferred to 15.18 lakh migrants.

In the wake of the upsurge in Covid cases in the state, Yogi Adityanath has directed all district magistrates to conduct RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test of the returning migrant workers on war footing and provide the necessary medical aid to those in need.

As per the CM’s directives, all districts will have dedicated quarantine centres for returning migrant workers. Besides, the Health Department team will conduct the RT-PCR tests on migrant labourers and those workers whose reports are positive, will be quarantined and provided with food and medical aid.

Subsequently, after 14 days of monitoring in the isolation centre, these migrant will be sent to their home districts by buses of the State Transport Corporation.
