Women TV Anchor Among Five Booked For Violation Election Code In Varanasi

Varanasi, January 14 (TNA) A case of violation of the election model code of conduct has been filed against five persons, including a female TV news anchors, for organizing election debates without permission.

An election debate was being held on behalf of the news channel at a paan shop located at Pandariba under Chetganj police station in Varanasi. Police swung into action after receiving a complaint on social media.

On receiving the complaint on social media, the Block Development Officer, Baragaon and Assistant Returning Officer and Additional Municipal Magistrate III and Returning Officer, along with the team of Flying Squad of 389 Vidhan Sabha, conducted on-site inspection of the spot.Among those booked are local Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders who were participating in the debate.

Deputy District Election Officer Ranvijay Singh said that a program on election campaign was going on on behalf of the news channel tjhrowing the rules to the wind.
