With A Week Left For The Retirement Of UP DGP, Suspense Continues On Next Top Cop

Lucknow, March 25 (TNA) With the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) DS Chauhan set to retire after a week, there is suspense on his successor. Power corridors in the state capital are abuzz with speculation on the new top cop.

Chauhan is on the post as an “acting DGP” for the last 11 months. He was given this responsibility on May 13, 2022 after the removal of DGP Mukul Goyal.

And in the month of September, the Union Public Service Commission had returned the proposal sent by the state government for the selection of DGP with some objections. While officials are tightlipped on the issue, many confirm that an extension to Chauhan could be a likelihood.
