Widow Of Slain Gangster Sanjeev Jeeva Gets No Relief From Supreme Court

New Delhi, June 10 (TNA) Payal Maheshwari, wife of slain gangster Sanjeev Jeeva, did not get relief from the Supreme Court on Friday. After the daylight murder of gangster Sanjeev Jeeva in Lucknow court two days back, his widow reached the apex court and had sought protection from his arrest.

The Supreme Court has rejected the petition seeking protection from arrest by his wife Payal Maheshwari after the murder of gangster Sanjeev Jeeva in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow court. The court said that there is no urgency in the matter. The SC also said that she did not attend her husband's last rites despite being assured by the police not to arrest her.

In this case, on behalf of the UP government, it was said in the Supreme Court that the last rites were performed on Thursday itself, but Jeeva's wife did not participate in it. His son performed the last rites. The public prosecutor said that Jeeva's wife runs the gang, so she should not get any relief.

She did not attend the cremation yesterday even after the police assured her. On the other hand, Payal Maheshwari had sought permission to participate in her husband's rituals etc. Jeeva's wife had said that like her husband, she too can be killed, so she should not be arrested. A case has been registered against Payal under the Gangster Act.
