Warrant Issued Against SP Leader Swami Prasad Maurya, His MP Daughter Sanghmitra

Lucknow, February 10 (TNA) A warrant has been issued against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya and his daughter Sanghamitra, who is an MP, in case of marriage without divorce. Swami Prasad Maurya, who is in the middle of many a controversy, has hit the limelight for all the wrong reasons again, this time however in a domestic matter related to the marriage of his MP daughter.

A court has issued a bailable warrant for the non-appearance of MP Sanghamitra and his father Swami Prasad Maurya, accused of fraudulently entering into a second marriage without obtaining divorce. He is accused of assaulting the plaintiff, abusing him, threatening his life and conspiring.

On the complaint of plaintiff Deepak Kumar Swarnkar, resident of Sushant Golf City, the court had summoned Sanghamitra, Swami Prasad Maurya, Neeraj Tiwari, Suryaprakash Shukla alias Chintu and Hrithik Singh in the court as accused. It is alleged in the complaint that the plaintiff and Sanghamitra have been living in a live-in relationship since the year 2016.

It was stated that Sanghamitra and Swami Prasad Maurya told the plaintiff that Sanghamitra was divorced from her first husband. Therefore, the plaintiff married Sanghamitra on 3 January 2019 at her house.

Whereas Sanghamitra gave an affidavit in the 2019 elections declaring herself unmarried. Later the plaintiff came to know that Sanghamitra was divorced in May 2021. It was further said that when the plaintiff asked for a legal marriage in the year 2021, the accused Swami Prasad Maurya attacked the plaintiff several times with other accused at different places. MPMLA Court's Special ACJM Ambrish Srivastava has fixed February 20 for the next hearing of the case.
