Villagers In UP Build 'Corona Mata' Temple, Police Demolishes It

Lucknow, June 13 (TNA) The 'Corona Mata' temple built at a street of land in a village in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh was demolished late night by the police as soon as some sections of the media broadcast the news.

The temple had come up recently at the Juhi Shuklapur village and was built by the villagers after pooling in money. The idol had a mask on and people had in fact started flocking to the temple, seeking relief and protection from the dreaded virus.

The village has witnessed three COVID deaths and the people were scared of the pandemic and some people pooled in money to construct the temple.

It was publicised and soon scores of people had started flocking to the temple, lighting up incense sticks, offering money as donation and also praying for hours before the presiding deity.
