UP Police Now Brutally Assault Former PM Charan Singh's Grand Son, RLD Leader Jayant Chaudhary

LUCKNOW || Barely had it overcome the shame and anger of the incidents in Hathras, the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday found itself in the cross hairs of the opposition and the social media on Sunday when Jayant Singh, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader was brutally assaulted by the police when he was talking to the media in Hathras.

Video footage shows that the Jat leader, who is also the grandson of late prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, was caught unawares when the police men all of a sudden charged at him and started raining canes on him and his supporters.

His followers and some party workers were seen shielding him from the blows but the men-in-khakhi continued to attack him relentlessly.

Anger broke out on the social media as the footage emerged. Deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia and leaders like Shivpal Singh Yadav slammed the Yogi Adityanath led BJP government in the state for letting loose the police on opposition leaders.

Earlier the police had come under heavy fire from people for assault on Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Trinamool's Derek O' Brien.

Sources in the state government say that the political leadership is very unhappy with the home department and police officials for tarnishing the image of the government almost every day now.
