UP Government Forwards Resignation Of IAS Abhishek Singh To The Centre For Acceptance

Lucknow, November 21 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh government has forwarded the resignation of 2011-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Abhishek Singh to the Centre. Singh, who has worked in many films, is under suspension from February 2023 due to long absence from work. Last month he had sent his resignation to the state appointment department.

The state government has sent its recommendation to accept the resignation of famous IAS Abhishek Singh to the Central Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT). Abhishek Singh's wife Durga Shakti Nagpal is also an IAS officer and is currently the DM of Banda. There have been discussions from time to time about Abhishek Singh contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Jaunpur.

Abhishek went to Delhi on deputation in the year 2015. On his return after five years, he was sent as an observer for the Gujarat Assembly elections. When his celebrity-style photo in front of a car went viral on social media, the Election Commission removed him from observer duty on November 18, 2022.

After this, Abhishek Singh did not join the appointment department of UP as per the rules. The state government considered his act as a violation of Rule 3 of All India Services (Conduct) Rules-1968 and suspended him and attached him to the Revenue Council. Abhishek Singh sent his resignation in September expressing his inability to work further due to personal reasons.

According to high-ranking sources of the government, he was suspended due to his absence without prior notice. He has also given his resignation for this reason. Therefore the state government agreed to accept his resignation.
