UP Bye Polls: BJP Set To Retain Top Slot, BSP-SP Vying For Second Position

Lucknow, Nov 10 || The ruling Bharatiya Janet Party (BJP) is set to win five seats in the state assembly for which bye polls were held. Counting is under way and after many rounds of counting, the BJP candidates are causing along to the finishing line on five seats. BJP had six seats earlier for which polls were held recently.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) are vying for the second spot. SP had Malhani seat. The poll outcome will also decide on which the winds are blowing in the politically crucial state.

While traditionally the ruling party invariably wins the bye polls, this time there were reports of dissent within the ruling party ranks and people, specially the migrant labourers were said to be cut up with the acute problems they had to face due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

If BJP goes the way as it is going till the afternoon, after finishing of many rounds, it will by and large be able to save the halo around Modi-Yogi combine and they could treat easy for some time now. UP is to go for polls in early 2022.

Polls were held for Tundla, Naunganwa, Ghatampur, Bangarmau, Malhani, Bulandshahr and Deoria Sadar assembly seats.
