UP Breaches Its Previous Worst In COVID Cases With 18,021 And 87 Deaths In Single Day

Lucknow, April 13 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday breached its past worst of fresh Covid cases in a single day as India's most populous state logged a worrying 18,021 new cases of the killer virus.

The state also lost 87 people to Coronavirus. The state capital Lucknow continued to record the maximum number of cases with 5382 fresh cases. 18 people died of COVID in the city in the past 24-hours.

Situation in Prayagraj continued to be equally worrying with 1856 new cases and eight deaths in the last one day. Kanpur city recorded 1271 new cases and ten deaths in a single day. Varanasi, the parliamentary seat of prime minister Narendra Modi logged 3 deaths and 1404 new cases.

Fresh cases of Coronavirus are steadily increasing in the National Capital Region (NCR) as well, with Noida recording 229 new cases and four deaths and Ghaziabad getting 199 new cases. Jhansi recorded 503, Gorakhpur 602, Moradabad 155, Meerut 321 and Agra 234.

Many districts which were reporting single digits have walked into double digits and some districts are inching close to the 200 marks once again as the second wave of the virus continues to rage.
