UP ATS Foils Major Serial Blast Plot, Arrests Two Al Qaeda Suspects From Lucknow

Lucknow, July 11 (TNA) The anti-terror squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday foiled what is being touted as a major serial blast conspiracy in the state capital. The plot was unearthed when three teams of ATS raided a house in the state capital.

Confirming the search operation, IG UP ATS GK Goswami said the operation foiled a serial blasts plot of Al-Qaeda (abbreviated as AQIS in Indian sub continent). A live pressure cooker bomb and a similar preparatory bomb has been seized.

The UP Police will make a detailed disclosure about the operation at 5 pm.

"The alleged local AQIS module busted on outskirts of Lucknow was being handled by AQIS handler Omar-Al-Mandi in Pakistan. The ATS now searching for some other suspected terrorists, who could be hiding elsewhere in UP," ATS sources said.

Police officials refused to elaborate further but informed that so far two men with suspected terror links have been detained from Faridpur in Thakurganj area on UP capital's outskirts.
