Under-construction Building Collapses In Lucknow's Gomtinagar, One Dead
Lucknow, April 30 (TNA) A wall of an under-construction hospital, near the NTPC building in Lucknow's Vibhuti Khand area collapsed Thursday morning when soil behind the wall gave way during excavation work adjacent to the foundation. Two labourers were trapped beneath the debris. Upon receiving the information, the police and fire brigade rushed to the scene.
During the subsequent rescue operation, one labourer was extricated from the soil in an unconscious state; doctors subsequently declared him dead. Police stated that the deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Shankar Awasthi (35), a resident of Ramnagar in Barabanki. The other labourer, Tulsiram, sustained minor injuries; the police have admitted him to the Lohia Institute, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The incident took place around 10:00 AM. CP Tripathi, Additional Secretary of the LDA (Lucknow Development Authority), visited the site to conduct an inspection. He confirmed that the building plan for plot D63 has been duly approved. The police are currently taking further necessary action regarding the matter. The hospital is being constructed on the specific plot of land where the accident occurred, and its building plan has been approved by the Authority.
