Tributes Pour In On The Demise Of Mahant Narendra Giri

Lucknow, Sep 20 (TNA) As the news of the demise of Mahant Narendra Giri, head of the Akahada Parishad, was broken to the world, a wave of sadness swept the political and power circles in the state capital on Monday evening. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the death of Giri was a big loss to the seer fraternity and the spiritual world.

He also prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to his followers to bear this big loss. Former chief minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav also expressed his condolences on the passing away of Giri and tweeted that it was a loss that cannot be comprehended.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who met Mahant Giri on Sunday said he was speechless and at loss of words with this sad news. "I met him yesterday only and took his blessings...he appeared normal at that time" Maurya said. He also said that the news of his death was an unbearable news.

He also said that if it was found that he was tortured mentally by someone, stringent action will be taken against such person after a detailed probe into the matter. Mahant Narendra Giri was found hanging in his room on Monday evening. Police are not certain on whether this was a suicide or some thing else.
