Tragic Road Accident on Purvanchal Expressway Claims Lives Near GosaiGanj

Lucknow, February 24 (TNA) A devastating collision on the Purvanchal Expressway in Hasanpur village under GosaiGanj police station jurisdiction resulted in multiple fatalities late Tuesday evening, triggering panic and grief among locals in Lucknow’s outskirts. Eyewitnesses reported a high-speed car crashing into a stationary truck around 8 PM, with at least four people killed on the spot and several others critically injured, including women and children travelling from Sultanpur to the capital.

The accident occurred amid poor visibility and speeding, according to preliminary police accounts, with the mangled wreckage blocking one lane of the crucial 340-km highway connecting eastern UP regions to Lucknow. GosaiGanj SHO confirmed three immediate deaths-a family of four en route for medical treatment-with two more succumbing at a nearby trauma centre; injured victims were rushed to KGMU Lucknow via ambulance amid traffic snarls stretching kilometres.

NDRF teams and district magistrate officials arrived swiftly, clearing debris by late evening, while UP Expressway Police launched a probe into possible mechanical failure or driver negligence.
