Tablets, Smart Phones Given To Meritorious Medical, Dental Students At AMU

Aligarh, August 3 (TNA) To accelerate the digital empowerment of youth, free tablets and smart phones were given to meritorious MBBS and BDS interns and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) under the Digishakti Scheme of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Distributing the gadgets, the Chief-Guest, Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal said: “Recognising the demands of the twenty-first century, the UP Government has set a benchmark to secure the future of the youth by expanding their access to digital education”.

“The distribution of these tablets and smart phones will go a long way in the implementation of Government developmental schemes and programs among the students. Various other information and updates will also be shared with them from time to time”, he added.

Extending gratitude to the UP Government, Prof Rakesh Bhargava (Dean, Faculty of Medicine) remarked: “Access to necessary gadgets help medical and dental students to reduce stress in their studies as they are required to read countless big textbooks and medical journals and attend tutorials. Education becomes more interesting, and days get embellished with productivity when you use the best devices for studies”.

“The age of technology is fast growing in all sectors, especially the health care sector. Medical and dental students without smart gadgets are at a great disadvantage”, said Prof Shahid A Siddiqui (Principal, J N Medical College, AMU).

Dr Adil Raza (Nodal Officer, Department of Microbiology) emphasised; tablets, smartphones and other gadgets are meant to make the journey of becoming a medical doctor less stressful and easy. Dr Hiba Sami conducted the programme.
