Supreme Court To Today Hear Don-Turned-Politician Atique Ahmed’s Plea Fearing For His Life, Security

New Delhi, March 17 (TNA) The Supreme Court (SC) will today hear the plea of mafia don-turned-politician Atique Ahmed, prime accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. He has expressed fear for his life and safety and petitioned the apex court not to allow his transfer from Sabarmati prison in Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh.

It is anticipated that the UP Police and the Special Task Force (STF) will seek his transit remand to question him on his role in the high-profile killing which shook the state in February. Former MP Atiq Ahmed had moved the Supreme Court on March 1 for his security.

He has claimed that he and his family are being falsely implicated in the murder of Umesh Pal and his two police gunners. The hearing of this matter will be done by the bench of Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice Bela M Trivedi.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath had vowed on the floor of the UP state assembly soon after the killings that the mafia don Atique and his ilk will be run to the ground.

Is mafia ko aur sabhi mafiaon ko hamari sarkaar mitti mein mila degi” he had roared in the Vidhan Sabha, much to the delight of the lawmakers, and the social media had gone berserk at the resolve of the saffron robed chief minister.
