Supreme Court To Hear PIL Seeking Independent Probe Into Atiq And Ashraf Murder Case Today

New Delhi, April 24 (TNA) The public interest litigation (PIL) filed in the Supreme Court for an independent investigation into the Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf murder cases will be heard on Monday. The state government has also made preparations to present its stand strongly regarding this, sources said.

In the petition, since 2017, a demand for an independent inquiry into the 183 encounters in the state under the supervision of a former Supreme Court judge has also been sought. The State Government has already constituted the Judicial Commission and the police and started the investigation by constituting the SIT.

On April 15, in police custody, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by three shooters in front of the police team and the media who had reached the hospital for medical examination in Prayagraj.

After this, on Monday, advocate Vishal Tiwari filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court demanding an independent investigation into the murder.
