Sulabh International Remembers Gandhi’s Contribution To Sanitation At Event In Lucknow

Lucknow, Oct 2 (TNA) The 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated by organising a lecture on Bapu’s contribution in society’s development at Sulabh International‘s campus in Lucknow on Saturday.

The speakers focussed on the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi on sanitation and for the improvement of socio-economic conditions of Dalits and weaker sections of society. Eminent Sociologist,Prof. S. Tripathi has delivered a talk an Gandhi as crusader of Dalits and human rights.

Gandhi ji had involved the civil society and non-government organizations for improving the social condition of deprived sections of society.

Gandhi is considered Messiah of dalits and brought scavengers in the main stream of society. He trained the workers for abolishing the untouchbility. He said that Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder of Sulabh Sanitation Movement has adopted the Gandhian thought and philosophy for reliving the manual scavengers involved in manual cleaning of toilets.

On the occasion Prof. Tripathi appreciated the efforts of Dr. Pathak who succeeded in achieving the dreams of Gandhi. Prof. Tripathi said that Gandhi himself cleaned the toilet and asked the volunteers to participate in the sanitation by cleaning Toilets in the Ashram.

This tradition was followed by Sulabh Sanitation Movement and constructed 10,000 toilets for improving the environment and quality of life of people.
