Sudden Storm In Lucknow Disrupts Flight Operations at Amausi Airport
Lucknow, April 30 (TNA) A sudden deterioration in weather conditions on Thursday morning brought flight operations at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport to a standstill, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded. Heavy cloud cover and drastically reduced visibility forced authorities to divert, delay, and cancel multiple domestic and international services throughout the day.
The most significant disruption occurred when Air India flight AI-2499, arriving from Delhi, was unable to land due to the poor visibility. After circling the city for an extended period, the pilot was forced to divert the aircraft to Varanasi.
Other arrivals faced similar challenges, with the Indigo flight from Delhi (6E-6476) running 45 minutes behind schedule, and the flight from Jaipur (6E-7651) arriving nearly an hour late. The situation escalated further as the day progressed, resulting in the complete cancellation of Air India flight AI-2491, which was scheduled to arrive from Mumbai at 1:35 PM.
The impact was equally severe for departures from the state capital, causing a ripple effect across the airport’s schedule. The international flight to Dubai (FZ 444), originally set for a 7:35 AM departure, was delayed until 9:15 AM. Domestic routes also suffered, with the 8:00 AM Air India flight to Delhi (AI 2500) departing after a two-hour delay at 10:20 AM, while Indigo flights to Raipur and Delhi faced delays of over an hour each.
By early afternoon, the airline authorities were forced to cancel the 2:10 PM Air India flight to Mumbai (AI 2492), compounding the frustration for passengers. Airport officials have advised travelers to verify their flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the terminal as operations slowly work toward normalization.
