Successful Ropeway Trial Clears Path For Early Launch In Barsana

Mathura, June 23 (TNA) With the successful trial of the much-awaited ropeway project in Barsana, the stage is set for the early commercial start of this facility, benefiting senior citizens and children visiting the Radha Rani temple atop the Brahmanchal hill.

Initiated by the UP Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad approximately eight years ago, the ropeway project faced delays due to opposition from green activists, funding issues, and technical feasibility concerns. However, officials are now confident that the facility will be operational by July 31. They anticipate that the ropeway will provide a thrilling experience for pilgrims while also helping to alleviate traffic congestion.

Currently, pilgrims must climb around 200 steps, roughly 50 metres, to reach the Radha Rani temple. The climb, especially during the summer months, deters many visitors. Promoters are optimistic that the Rs 15.87 crore ropeway project, featuring 12 trolleys procured from Indonesia, will enhance and increase footfall in Barsana, located 30 km from Mathura. The ground and landing stations are already complete. The journey would be just four minutes one way.

Board officials said work had also begun on the Vrindavan ropeway project to the Sri Banke Bihari Temple along the Chatikara Road.
