STF Busts Major Fake Medicine Racket In Varanasi, Monocef, Clavam 625, Pan D, Pan 40, Taxim Worth Rs 7.5 Crores Seized

Varanasi, March 2 (TNA) The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police busted a major medicine manufacturing racket in Varanasi which used to supply fake and spurious drugs in the name of branded/patent drugs. The king pin Ashok Kumar has been arrested.

The Varanasi unit of Uttar Pradesh STF busted this fake medicines racket in the name of branded companies from Baddi, Himachal Pradesh and stored them illegally in Varanasi, along with other districts of Purvanchal and also Patna.

Disclosing that the gang supplied medicines to places like Gaya, Purnia, Bihar, Kolkata, West Bengal, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, and others, an official said seizures have been made by arresting Bulandshahr resident gang leader Ashok Kumar from Church Colony under Police Station Sigra, Commissionerate, Varanasi.

Fake medicine brands that were made by this gang include Monocef O, Gabapin NT, Clavam 625, Pan D, Pan 40, Cef AZ, Taxim O. About 300 boxes of the above drugs (estimated value of Rs 7.5 crore) have been recovered from the place of arrest and the godown located at Maheshpur police station, Maduadih.

About Rs 4.40 lakh in cash, forged bills and other documents have also been seized. Necessary legal action after the interrogation of the arrested accused and other gang members, more recovery is being done with the help of the local police station and Food Safety and Drug Administration Department.
