Some Relief To Lucknow As Two Tankers Of Oxygen Reach City From Bokaro

Lucknow, April 24 (TNA) The state capital of Uttar Pradesh breathed a sigh of some relief on the weekend as two tankers full of oxygen offloaded from a train which chugged in from Bokaro carrying liquid oxygen from a steel plant, an official said.

Additional chief secretary (Home) Avaneesh Kumar Awasthi and top railway officials received the much needed consignment at the Charbagh railway station. Officials said that today three more tankers will be sent to Bokaro to fetch more oxygen. Awasthi also added that patients will now have no dearth of oxygen.

This is 30,000 litres of liquid oxygen - which converts to 900 liters of O2 gas for every one litre. It is enough for 5000 patients for 2 days.

The demand for medical oxygen has gone up more than five times in the five days as new COVID cases shot through the roof. District Magistrate Roshan Jacob and the health department will now be decided the quote to various medical facilities based on the demand.

The police has also made an elaborate plan for transfer of oxygen to hospitals as there have been some attacks at some places on oxygen tankers.
