Shopkeeper Burnt Alive as Blaze Engulfs Three Family-Owned Shops In Kanpur
Kanpur, April 25 (TNA) A devastating fire triggered by a short circuit ripped through three shops in Ghatampur’s Dina Market early Saturday morning, claiming one life and gutting lakhs worth of goods. The inferno struck just as the market was opening for business, turning a routine day into chaos.
Residents spotted thick smoke billowing from one shop around 7 AM and promptly alerted police and fire services. Flames spread rapidly, engulfing two adjacent shops, all owned by brothers from the same family. Tragically, one shopkeeper trapped inside perished in the blaze, burnt alive despite frantic rescue efforts.
Five fire tenders from the Kanpur Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and are battling the fierce flames, which have destroyed merchandise worth several lakhs. Police cordoned off the area, evacuating bystanders to a safe distance.
Kanpur Chief Fire Officer (CFO) is overseeing operations on-site, an official informed TNA, while adding that preliminary probe points to a short circuit as the cause, with investigations ongoing. No other casualties reported so far, but the incident has rattled the local trading community.
