Scorching Heat Grips Uttar Pradesh, Hazy Skies and Thunderstorm Predicted Today
Lucknow, April 30 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh is sweltering under intense summer heat today, with hazy skies blanketing the state and temperatures soaring between 32-39°C across major cities, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and AccuWeather. In the capital Lucknow, early-morning readings clocked 32.4°C, with southeasterly winds at 7.4 km/h and 54% humidity.
In comparison, hotter interiors like Fursatganj hit 39.2°C and Prayagraj reached 34.6°C, prompting heat advisories for vulnerable groups. Forecasters predict daytime highs of 33-36°C in Lucknow and nearby areas, with isolated western districts like Agra potentially exceeding 40°C under partly cloudy conditions and minimal rainfall under 2 mm statewide.
Late afternoon thunderstorms or light showers could bring brief relief in pockets, accompanied by gusty winds up to 30 km/h, though air quality remains unhealthy due to dust haze and pollutants, urging residents to limit outdoor exposure.
Regional variations highlight eastern UP’s slightly cooler zones around Varanasi at 34°C with rising winds, contrasting dry heat in the west, as no major western disturbances influence the pattern per IMD’s extended outlook. Nighttime lows are expected to settle at 24-26°C, but escalating mercury through early May calls for hydration, midday sun avoidance, and crop protection for farmers amid persistent dry spells.
