SC Clears Decks For Removal Of Mosque Inside Allahabad HC Premises

New Delhi, March 13 (TNA) A mosque situated inside the premises of the Allahabad High Court in Prayagraj will now be removed as the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday cleared the decks for the process. The apex court has upheld the decision of the High Court and has given a three-month notice to the petitioners to remove the said mosque.

The Supreme Court declined to interfere with the 2018 judgment of the Allahabad High Court saying that there is no reason to interfere in the decision of the Allahabad High Court in which it had directed to vacate a mosque located in the court premises.

The SC has however allowed the petitioner-the Waqf Board, to present his case to the state government seeking land for the mosque at another location and given it 3 months to remove the mosque. The Waqf Board was represented by eminent lawyer Kapil Sibal.
