Eminent Sanskrit Scholar, Padma Shri Vagish Shastri Passes Away
Varanasi, May 12 (TNA) Eminent Sanskrit scholar, linguist Vagish Shastri passed away late Wednesay night, plunging the literary world in mourning. He was 89. In 2018, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri in the field of literature and education.
He breathed his last during treatment in a private hospital. Ashapati Shastri, his eldest son infornmed the media that his father was ill for several days. On Monday, when his condition became more serious, the doctors put him on a ventilator.
His condition was improving on Tuesday. His health suddenly deteriorated again late on Wednesday evening and the end came at 10:30 pm. His last journey will leave for Harishchandra Ghat from his residence at Shivala between 9 am to 10 am.
