Police officers tried to stop me from discharging my duties by registering unwarranted FIRs, calling before Parliament's Privileges Committee and taking strict action

LUCKNOW || Rajya Sabha MP of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay Singh, on Tuesday wrote a letter to Chairman of the Rajya Sabha in connection with the "violation of his parliamentary privileges" against Sujit Pandey, Commissioner of Police Lucknow, Hemraj Meena, Superintendent of Police Basti, Abhishek Singh, Superintendent of Police Baghpat A complaint has been lodged against Abhishek Yadav, Superintendent of Police Muzaffarnagar, Satyendra Kumar, Superintendent of Police Lakhimpur Kheri, Brijesh Singh, Superintendent of Police Sant Kabir Nagar, Sunil Gupta, Superintendent of Police Gorakhpur, and Muniraj, Superintendent of Police Aligarh.

He demanded intervention by the Chairman against the mentioned police officers who he alleged "tried to stop me from the responsibility of discharging my duties by registering unwarranted FIRs and violated the direct privilege of calling all the police officers before the Privileges Committee of Parliament and take strict action."

In recent days, Singh has been elating a frontal attack on the Yogi Adityanath led BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh, accusing it of working only for the Thakur community. On the basis of caste, common people are being discriminated against from police stations to the Chief Minister's Secretariat, Singh had alleged.

Sanjay Singh further mentioned in the letter that India is the largest democracy in the world, where every person has the constitutional right to speak out against the injustice and tyranny of any government.

"I am a Rajya Sabha MP of the Supreme House of the country. The primary duty of the members of this House is to raise the issues of the States and try to resolve them. In order to stifle the truth I have spoken, by registering an FIR against me in various districts with the connivance of the above police officers, my constitutional rights as a citizen and my privilege as a Member of Parliament have been violated" he charged.
