Sambhal's Bhasma Shankar Temple Reopens After 46 Years
Sambhal, December 15 (TNA) A Shiva temple in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, closed since the communal riots of 1978, was rediscovered and reopened on December 14. The temple, known as Bhasma Shankar, was found during police action against illegal power connections, highlighting both the historical communal tensions and the ongoing efforts against encroachment in the area.
The Lord Shiva temple was closed in 1978. There is also an ancient well near the temple. UP Police said, "Hindu families used to live in this area, and due to some reasons, they left the area. Action will be taken against those who encroached upon the temple”. There are idols of Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman in the temple. The temple has been cleaned and Puja by Hindus begins.
