Rolls-Royce Chief At AMU, Discusses Possibility Of Electric Airplanes

Aligarh, March 23 (TNA) Dr Amit Gupta (Chief, Rolls-Royce Electricals, Rolls-Royce-Singapore) shared the possibility of frequent fliers buying tickets for flights on electric airplanes with Rolls-Royce Holding’s gradual gaining of ground in the buzzy market for electric aviation.

He was addressing the engineering students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) recently in a programme of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. “Since air travel and cargo is currently the most carbon intensive activity, there is a pressing need for operating aircrafts with more electrical power as a way to achieve sustainable development”, said Dr Amit.

He discussed how Rolls-Royce is developing, testing, and innovating technologies and systems together with partners to create the electric propulsion and energy systems for tomorrow and shared information on development projects for future aircrafts.

Dr Amit talked about the potential of electric flight and the need for sustainable technologies that can become part of daily lives. “The Rolls-Royce Holdings is proud of its projects for cleaner and greener aircrafts, which will allow people to fly as they do now, but in a way that cuts emissions”, he said.

Prof Pervez Mustajab (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology) stressed the collaboration of industry and academia in achieving a sustainable future. Prof M M Sufyan Beg (Principal, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology) delivered the welcome address and spoke on the history of the Engineering College.
