1981-Batch IAS Officer Of UP Cadre Sharda Prasad Passes Away

Lucknow, Sep 19 (TNA) Retired bureaucrat Sharda Prasad passed away aged 69 on Monday, He was a 1981 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Born to a farmer family in Alampur Geria village of Fatehpur, he completed his BSc from the Allahabad university and later worked as a probationary officer (PO) in State Bank of India, a job he did for three years.

In 1979 he appeared for the Civil Services but could get into the Customs and Central Excise only. In 1981 he however cleared the IAS after which he resigned as Superintendent of Customs at the Patna Airport. He was assistant collector at Almora for three years and then worked as SDM and BDO. In 1983 he was posted as SDM Jaunpur and later spent time as Additional Commissioner (Rural Development).

He alsos erved as DM Pilibhit when Sikh extremists had infested the Terai region. In subsequent years he served as Commissioner (Land Disposal) in Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Joint Secretray (Centre-State) in MHA when the Godhara incident took place.

He alsos erved as UP’s labour commissioner. In 2006, Prasad returned to the centre as DG (Employment and Training). At the end of his career he served as principal advisor to the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Adviror (Skills and Livelihood).

He had not been keeping too well after a stroke in May this year while he was on way to Mussourie. He is survived by two sons.
