Prayagraj’s CJM Court Turns Down Atique Ahmed’s Plea For Hearing Through Video Conferencing

Prayagraj, April 11 (TNA) On a day that a team of Prayagraj Police reached the Sabarmati prison in Ahmedabad, Gujarat to bring jailed mafia don Atique Ahmed, the five-term MLA suffered a jolt from the court when his petition for hearing through video conferencing was turned down.

Prayagraj's CJM court did not approve the demand on the petition demanding to appear through video conferencing and then directed the police to take a decision according to laid down rules and established norms, regulations. Atique will now be brought to Prayagraj for questioning in the Umesh Pal murder case, which took place in February end.

Citing several ailment that he is suffering from, the dreaded mafia don-turned-politician had moved the court in an effort to skip physical appearance in Prayagraj court. Last month when he was brought from Ahmedabad by road, it became a national media spectacle and when he was produced before the court in a kidnapping case, lawyers heckled him, abused him and raised slogans against him.
