Police Warns Of Action Against Social Media Elements Out To "Tarnish Image of The UP Government" Amid COVID Pandemic

Lucknow, April 24 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh Police late on Thursday warned people against "misuse of the social media" in the time of COVID pandemic and said that stringent action is being initiated against such errant persons.

ADG (Law & Order) Prashant Kumar said that it has come to the notice of the cops that "repeated content" was being posted on the social media with the objective of "tarnishing the image of the state government".

This he said would not be tolerated and informed further that instructions have been passed on to all district police chiefs to crack down on such "unscrupulous elements" who are "creating unrest through social media".

"Some unscrupulous elements are indulging in rumour mongering on social media & posting the same content with a view to create panic & tarnish the image of the UP Government. Directions have been given to take strict action against such people who are creating unrest through social media" the top-ranking UP Police official stated further.
