PhD Student At IIT-Kanpur Hangs Self

Kanpur, Sep 7 (TNA) In a shocking incident, a student of IIT-Kanpur committed suicide late on Tuesday, a police official said. Body of the deceased - Prashant Singh (32) was found hanging in his hostel room. After the hostel students informed the administration, the police was called.

The police have informed the family of the deceased who was a native of Varanasi. He was doing PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the presitigious institute. Reasons for him taking this extreme step are yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent for autopsy.
