Over Two Lakh Bangladeshis Suspected In Lucknow: Mayor Sushma Kharkwal
Lucknow, January 4 (TNA) Mayor Sushma Kharkwal on Friday expressed concerns over the presence of “nearly 2 lakh Bangladeshis illegally residing in the city”. According to the municipal corporation's initial survey, 7,335 illegal shanties have been identified on vacant plots.
The mayor warned that if Bangladeshis and Rohingyas are not controlled in time, they could pose a significant security threat to the city's future. To address this, the municipal corporation has initiated ID verification drives in these shanties. Identified Bangladeshis and Rohingyas will be deported with the administration's assistance.
Kharkwal also pointed out that Bangladeshis were responsible for attacking the municipal team in Zone 7 last Sunday. A survey of vacant plots is underway, and its findings will be submitted to the district magistrate and the minister-in-charge for further action.
