Over A Dozen Killed In UP Owing To Lightning Strikes

Lucknow, July 21 (TNA) At least a dozen people have been killed and 16 seriously injured due to lightning strikes across Uttar Pradesh in the past 24-hours. Heavy rains in some parts of the state have also caused huge losses, hosue cave in’s and wall collapses.

The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the loss of life due to lightning and excessive rain. Rs 4-4 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased has been announced by the saffron-robed chief minister.

Permissible assistance will be provided immediately to the people affected by the disaster, an official informed. Due to lightning, 4 people have been reported dead in Banda district, 2 in Fatehpur and 1-1 in Balrampur, Chandauli, Bulandshahr, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kaushambi, Sultanpur and Chitrakoot districts.

One person died in district Amethi due to excessive rain. A total of 16 people have been injured due to the divine calamity, information has also been received about the loss of 5 animals.
