Notorious Criminal Mukesh Thakur Killed In Encounter With Agra Police

Agra, August 30 (TNA) In the early hours of Monday, a dreaded criminal - Mukesh Thakur, who carried a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was killed in a gun battle with the Agra Police.

He was being taken for recovery of a stolen rifle when all of a sudden he snatched the pistol of a policeman accompanying him and he opened fire on the team, an official informed.

He was taken to SN Medical College where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police retaliated with heavy fire in which he was killed, the official further added. Thakur, a resident of Basedi, Rajasthan, was absconding after committing a robbery in Canara Bank in Iradat Nagar on February 15 this year. He had been arrested by the police late on Sunday night.

IG Naveen Arora informed that the wanted criminal was arrested late night and that he had taken a contract to kill someone. For this he was arranging a weapon. The police took him for recovery of the weapon.
