Noida Shooting Range Named After 'Shooter Dadi' Chandro Tomar
Lucknow, June 22 (TNA) The shooting range in Noida will now be known as Chandro Tomar, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath informed on Tuesday. This, he said was part of the state government's efforts to bow to the woman power under the 'Mission Shakti'.
Adityanath had in January virtually inaugurated the indoor stadium and the integrated shooting range located in Sector 21 A of Noida.
Chandro Tomar was an Indian octogenarian sharpshooter from the village of Johri in the Bagpat district and learning to shoot in 1999 when she was already in her 60s, she had attained national fame as an accomplished shooter, having won more than 30 national championships. She died of Coronavirus on April 30 at Meerut this year.
A Bollywood film - Saand Ki Aankh, was also made on her life journey and sporting success in 2019. She was popularly known as 'Shooter Dadi'.
