Nepali Youth Arrested By ATS In Varanasi For Fake Army Recruitment Scam

Varanasi, May 23 (TNA) The ATS of the UP Police has nabbed a Nepali youth who was recruited in army with fake documents. His search was going on since 2017. The Nepalese youth has been identified as Shivaansh Baliyan, Nepali name Sagar Shahi.

He was arrested by ATS Varanasi unit from Arrah, Bihar. A case was registered in Lucknow's ATS police station on charges of fraud and other charges on the allegations of forged Indian identity of Nepalese citizens being admitted to the Gorkha regiment. He was declared a fugitive from the army.

According to the ATS Varanasi field unit, in the year 2015-16, during the army recruitment in 39 GTC located in the cantonment, some Nepali youths were recruited by a racket by getting their Indian names and residence certificates made and verification of fake documents with the help of their Indian colleagues. A Nepali citizen Chandra Bahadur Khatri, who was residing in a rented room in Phulwaria Cantt, Varanasi, along with Ajay Maurya, Nagesh Maurya and Awadh Prakash Maurya were also arrested. According to the ATS, three more Nepali youths, Prem Singh Kuwar, Manoj Bishret and Shivansh Baliyan (Nepali name Sagar Shahi), who were wanted in the trial, had joined the Indian Army on the basis of Indian documents fraudulently.
