National Workshop On 'ICT Pedagogical Skills During Covid-19'

ALIGARH || Resource persons from Jamia Millia Islamia-New Delhi, Central University of Kerala, CIET-New Delhi, IIMC-New Delhi, NCERT-New Delhi, University of Lucknow and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) provided hands-on-training to the participants of the two-day online National Workshop on 'ICT Pedagogical Skills during Covid-19' organised by the Department of Education, AMU.

In the keynote address, Prof Ahrar Husain (Director, Centre for Distance and Open Learning-CDOL, Jamia Millia Islamia) spoke on the relevance of online platforms like e-Pathshala and SWAYAM among others.

Prof Ahrar stressed that there is a need for teachers to utilise technology for better teaching process. He discussed the usefulness of mobile learning and virtual classrooms during the Covid-19 restrictions.

In the presidential address, Prof Nisar Ahmad Khan, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, emphasised: "Combination of technology and pedagogy leads to techno-pedagogical skills for learning arrangements in a better way".

In the first technical session, Prof M N Mohammedunni (Dean, School of Education, Central University of Kerala) delineated the theoretical paradigm shift after the coronavirus outbreak. He discussed importance of technology based collaboration, cooperation and utilisation of different capacities.

Dr Mohd Mamur Ali (Department of Teacher Training and Non formal Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi) explained the importance of creating and designing interactive e- resources such as interactive concept maps and interactive presentations for engaging learners in the second technical session.

In the third technical session Dr Nisha Singh (Deputy Director, Centre for Online Education, IGNOU, New Delhi) spoke about how ICT potential should be realized in the evaluation of teaching learning process.

Dr Kiran Lata Dangwal (Additional Dean, Academic Cell, University of Lucknow) delivered a lecture on 'Virtual world and Ethics' in the fourth session.

Prof Anubhuti Yadav (Head, Department of New Media and IT, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi) and Prof Amarendra Prasad Behera (Joint Director, CIET-NCERT, New Delhi) delivered the key addresses in the fifth and sixth sessions respectively.

Prof Waseem A. Khan, (Jamia Millia Islamia) was the guest speaker at the valedictory function. Dr Mehnaz Ansari (Jamia Millia Islamia) and Dr Shah Mohammad discussed the feedback of the participants. Prof Sajid Jamal (Workshop Coordinator) presented the programme overview.
