Muslim Side Petitions SC Against Allahabad HC Order Of Scientific Study Of Alleged Shivling At Gyanvapi, Hearing Today

New Delhi, May 19 (TNA) The Muslim side has knocked the doors of the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court to conduct a scientific test of the Shivling found during the survey in the Gyanvapi Masjid premises in Varanasi. The Masajid Committee has challenged the order of the High Court by filing a petition in the Supreme Court.

On Thursday, a demand was made by the Masjid Committee for an early hearing on the matter. The Supreme Court will hear on this on Friday.

The Allahabad High Court on May 12 ordered a scientific test under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to ascertain the antiquity of the Shivling found during the survey at the Gyanvapi mosque.

On Thursday morning, senior advocate Huzaifa Ahmadi, appearing for the Masajid Committee, mentioned the matter before a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala, saying that the High Court has ordered scientific testing and carbon dating of the Shivling. Against this, a Special Leave Petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on his behalf.
