Varanasi, April 18 (TNA) Dean of the Biochemical Department of IIT BHU, Prof Vikas Dubey said that a modern material testing lab is to be built in IIT BHU for which two former students have donated Rs 2.90 crore. This will help in furthering the growth and development of the institute, he said while adding that this is because this will create invaluable resources and research opportunities for students.

With the help of two alumni, opportunities for scientific research are going to increase significantly in IIT BHU. There are preparations to build a state-of-the-art laboratory for research on advanced and dynamic materials on the IIT campus. For this, two former students here have donated an amount of 3.65 lakh dollars i.e. 2.90 crores to IIT. With this amount, the Vishwashanti Advanced Vibration and Dynamic Materials Testing Laboratory will be built.

Rajeev Khanna, a Mechanical Engineering student of the 1979 batch and CEO of Jenix Technology Inc, had recently visited IIT BHU during the Golden Jubilee Re-union of the 1979 batch. During this, he announced a donation of US $ 285,000 for the establishment of the 'Vishwashanti Advanced Vibration and Dynamic Materials Testing Laboratory'. Metallurgical Science alumnus Ujjwal Nath was also present in the same program.

He is the Chairman and CEO of Micarma. He announced that he will donate 80 thousand US dollars to the institute. It is noteworthy that Nath has so far appointed more than 30 IIT BHU students in his company MyKarma.

The usefulness of Vishwashanti Advanced Vibration and Dynamic Materials Testing Laboratory is very important in the times to come. Experts say that the utility of the material is quite wide. Research will be done in the laboratory on materials used in everything from medicines to defense equipment, semiconductors, chips etc. Apart from this, there are also preparations to work on experimental stress analysis and engineering related to vibration and control.
