Many Injured At BHU As Hostel Inmates Fight Pitched Battle At Mid-night

Varanasi, August 27 (TNA) Several students of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) were injured in a mid-night brawl between inmates of the Rajaram and Birla hostels, police said. Stones were pelted, petrol bombs hurled at each others and even blanks were fired as the violence took a sudden ugly turn.

According to information students of the two hostels came face to face after a minor dispute at around 12:45 am. After getting the information, Proctorial Board, PAC and police reinforcements were rushed tp the varsity campus.

The police and proctorial board members tried to pacify the irate students from a distance, but the students were not ready to back off. BHU outpost in-charge Rajkumar Pandey has also suffered injuries on his hands and feet.

BHU Chief Proctor Anand Chaudhary said that efforts are being made to convince both the groups.

DCP Kashi Zone Amit Kumar told that there has been a brawl and stone pelting between the two hostels and that a complaint has been received from both the sides. Action will be taken by registering a case against the accused

This is the fourth incident of stone-pelting in the BHU campus in eight months this year.
