Lucknow Tops UP List Of Cities With Better Living Conditions

Lucknow, March 5 (TNA) Lucknow has topped Uttar Pradesh among major cities in terms of living in the country and Varanasi has been at number two. Jhansi has topped small cities.

If seen in the rankings across the country, Lucknow ranked 26th among big cities, Varanasi 27th and Jhansi 34th among smaller cities.

The Union Government's Urban Development Ministry had released the 'Ease of Living' index on Thursday. A total of 111 cities rankings have been released in this index.

Along with this, the Municipal Corporation Performance Index has also been released. In this, 14 cities of UP have been ranked.

The Union Urban Development Ministry conducted the survey in two categories. One in cities with more than one million population and the other in cities with less than one million population.

In rankings of cities of over ten lakh population, www.thenewsagency.in ranked 26th, Varanasi (27), Kanpur (28), Ghaziabad (30), Prayagraj (32), Agra (35), Meerut (36) and Bareilly (47).

In cities with less than one million population, Jhansi topped with 34th rank while Moradabad got 38th position, Rae Bareli (40), Saharanpur (44), Aligarh (58) and Rampur (59)

The list is prepared on the basis of 15 standards such as identity and culture, education, health, security, economy, affordable housing, land planning, parks, transport, water supply, waste management and environmental quality.
