Liquor Worth Rs 65 Lakh Being Smuggled From Punjab To Bihar Intercepted And Seized In Sonbhadra

Sonbhadra, May 17 (TNA) A joint team of police and SOG of Karma police station in Sonbhadra district recovered 698 cases of illicit English liquor in a DCM container on Tuesday. This liquor made in Punjab was being taken to Bihar for sale.

The police team has also arrested an inter-provincial smuggler. Based on the information received from him during his interrogation, the police is on the lookout for his other associates. SP Yashveer Singh told in the press conference that a joint team of Karma Police and SOG was engaged in the investigation under the campaign to stop drug trafficking.

On information from an informer, the police team caught a suspected DCM container from Bhairopur Kuchmarwan turn near Kekrahi. When this DCM with Bihar number was searched, liquor boxes were kept hidden inside.

The driver of the DCM, Akbar Ali, a resident of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, told during interrogation that this English liquor has been prepared illegally in Punjab, which is being taken to Bihar via Sonbhadra. DCM Mithu Kumar brought it from Jalandhar and handed it over to him in Delhi.
