Life Imprisonment To Mafia-turned-Politician Anupam Dubey For Murder Of Police Inspector

Fatehgarh, December 8 (TNA) Mafia-turned-politician Anupam Dubey, identified by the Uttar Pradesh government for killing UPP Inspector Ram Niwas Yadav, has been awarded a life imprisonment after 27 years due to effective lobbying by the UP Police.

Dubey is a history-sheeter and he has 63 cases registered against his name. Anupam Dubey is the gang leader in gang number D-47, name of which is registered in the UP Police records. Dubey had shot dead Police Inspector Ramniwas Yadav in 1996 in a passenger train near Anwarganj, Kanpur.

The BSP leader has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Additional District Judge Ashtam Ram Avtar Prasad. Along with this, a fine of Rs 1 lakh has also been imposed. In the case, three people including Anupam were accused of murder. Two accused have died during the hearing of the case. On Thursday, Anupam, who was lodged in Mathura jail under tight security, was brought to the district court for the verdict.

CB-CID had also investigated the case and submitted a report. Nem Kumar and Kaushal died during the hearing of the case. Due to Anupam's absence, the CMM Court had issued the attachment order in 2021. After this, Anupam surrendered in another case registered in Farrukhabad and went to jail. Then his warrant was served in Farrukhabad jail and he was presented in the court.

ADGC Arvind Dimri said that a total of 22 witnesses were presented in the court in the case. 18 witnesses appeared in the court on behalf of the prosecution while four witnesses also recorded their statements as court witnesses. Of these, the testimony of a witness, Mulayam Singh, who was present in the train at the time of the incident, was important. He was presented in the court as an eyewitness.

Dubey said that whatever decision the court has given, it will be respected and added that they will now challenge the decision of the court in Allahabad High Court.
