Language Of Government Letter Irks Lawyers, To Strike Work Today

Meerut, May 18 (TNA) Angry at the language of a government letter, advocates have announced a strike in all the districts of western UP on Wednesday. On the other hand, the UP Bar Council has also hinted to the lawyers across the state to abstain from judicial work on the May 20.

On Tuesday, a meeting of the High Court Bench Establishment Sangharsh Samiti was convened atthe Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Auditorium of the Meerut Bar Association. Central Sangharsh Committee chairman Gajendra Pal Singh and convener Ajay Kumar Sharma highlighted what they called indecent remarks in a letter of the government.

In protest against this letter, advocates of all the districts of western Uttar Pradesh will not do judicial work on Wednesday. Prafulla Kamal, the special secretary in the government, had sent a letter to all the district magistrates of the state on May 14 calling to ensure that immediate cognizance is taken of the anarchic acts being done by the advocates in the district courts, take action against the concerned and inform.
