Kanpur Police Commissioner Asim Arun Quits Service, Likely To Join BJP

Lucknow, January 8 (TNA) In a swift development, hours after the state assembly elections were announced, Kanpur police commissioner Aseem Arun applied for VRS and is likely to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A highly decorated Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Arun is a 1994 batch officer and has served on various prestigious assignments.

His father late Sri Ram Arun once headed the state police as its DGP and was one of the finest officers kmnown to the world’s largest police force. Aseem Arun hails from Kannauj and it is likely that he might contest on a BJP ticket from Kannauj, a town known for its perfumes and Itra.

In a good bye message to his batchmates, peers, officials, subordinates, Aseem Arun bid them adieu and said that he would always miss the force and would cherish the time spent as an IPS.
