Kanpur Commissioner Conducts Surprise Check At Irrigation Department Office, 23 Of The 25 Employees Found Missing

Kanpur, March 15 (TNA) Keeping up with his sustained spree of surprise checks and inspections, especially to check attendance of government officials and employees at their respective offices, Kanpur divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar on Monday reached the office of the executive engineer of the Irrigation department.

What shocked the day lights out of the high-ranking bureaucrat was the fact that 23 of the total 25 employees stationed at the office were missing and this included the office boss- the executive engineer himself!

Raj Shekhar also expressed dismay at the fact that the attendance register was not verified by competent authorities and that the office was in poor state of maintenance, with filth all around.

The commissioner immediately served a show cause notice to the executive engineer AK Singh and wrote to the state government, seeking a departmental enquiry against him.

He also issued instructions to stop pay of all the absent officials and employees and SE (irrigation) was asked to serve all the absentees a show cause notice and after receiving their responses submit a report to him by March 25.
