Illegal Arms Making Unit Operating From A Sugarcane Field In Shahjahanpur Unearthed, Two Arrested

Shahjahanpur, Sep 20 (TNA) The Shahjahanpur Police on Sunday unearthed an illegal arms factory, running from a sugarcane field. The Katra police had received a tip off from an informer that an illegal factory for making country-made weapons - guns and rifles was running in the sugarcane field in Khairpur area.

On raiding the place, the police recovered arms-making equipment and have also arrested two - Sadiq and Faheem, for making firearms. The police also got a demo done in the sugarcane field regarding how the firearms are prepared.

Among the huge cache of arms were a country-made rifle, a country-made gun, 7 pistols of 315 bore and several half-made pistols from the spot.

During interrogation, it was found that they used to sell the finished firearm at a price of RS 3-4,000. Police suspect that these illegal weapons were being readied for the forthcoming state assembly elections.
